Errr, There's No Place Like Home?
#2020Goals, my New Year’s resolution and mantra for the year. Wow, doesn’t the New Year seem like a distant memory in this omnipresent Covid-19 environment, where every day seems like a Saturday and weeks don’t start and end, they just persist?
But what confuses me the most about the spacetime continuum < and my (now) whole five weeks of quarantine > is the fact that I’m home 24/7 and am actually busier than before. How is that even possible? I’ve worked from home for as long as I can remember. Is it that the whole family is home with me? Is it the fact that every grocery delivery or Amazon package requires an extra 30 minutes of sanitization time? Or is it just that “Saturday” time is always somehow oddly simultaneously in both slow motion AND fast-forward? I don’t think I’m going to figure it out. But here’s what I do know …. I miss being out with people. I miss dinners and happy hours — ones that don’t require more than 40 minutes on a free Zoom account. And I miss travel.
This year we had two trips planned — one to DC and one to Spain, both with family and friends — so much fun! (NOTE: we have the absolute BEST AirBnB spot in DC. Check out https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/36037856) if you’re planning a trip there. Dale is simply the Superhost with the most!)
Now we wait and we dream of the time when we can meet our friends, and new ones, both here at home and there while traveling.
Truthfully, it’s hard to complain when we have everything we need — food, shelter, safety, love. So many are suffering right now. We can be grateful for, and hold dearly, the things we do have. And there really is no place like home. But the places we visit outside our homes make the journey so much fun.
Here at home, longing for the day. #Jitterless
